2008 Awards
The Cancer Institute NSW 2008 Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research was held on 22 May 2008 at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre's Parkside Ballroom. The gala event honoured the innovation and passion of this State’s most cancer researchers.
The Premier’s Awards highlight our philosophy of broad support for bench-to-bedside research. The awards represent the comprehensive spread of our funding programs designed to assure improvements continue to be made in prevention, detection, diagnosis, clinical trials and treatment of cancer.
This formal black-tie evening drew together over 300 of NSW’s clinical opinion leaders, cancer researchers, key cancer control stakeholders, prominent government officials, leaders in biomedical & clinical research and the broader business community.
Premier's Award for Outstanding Cancer Researcher of the Year
The NSW Premier's Award for Outstanding Cancer Researcher of the Year was established to honour an individual who has made significant and fundamental contributions to any field of cancer research in NSW. These contributions must have had a lasting impact on the cancer field and must have demonstrated sustained progress against cancer.
The Premier’s Award for Outstanding Cancer Research Fellow and Premier’s Award for Outstanding Cancer Research Scholar were based on the review of Progress Reports for Cancer Institute NSW funded Fellows and Scholars. These reports were considered by the independent interstate Grants Review Committee.
