Program Manager Cancer Service Performance

Your opportunity to be work with industry experts in the development and delivery of clinical cancer programs and be involved in enhancing cancer care.

The Cancer Services & Education Division’s priority is to enhance Cancer Services and Professional Education aimed at improving cancer survival and quality of life for patients and their carers. Key program areas include; Patient Supportive Care, Smarter Models of Care & eviQ Cancer Treatments Online.

Reporting to the Director Cancer Services and Education, you will manage the funding of key area health service delivered programs aimed at enhancing cancer care. You will develop a quality performance framework that facilitates the reporting, monitoring and evaluation of cancer services across NSW in line with validated cancer health outcomes and measures of performance. You will oversee the operations of the tumour specific Cancer Networks to facilitate the application of best evidence based clinical practice in addition to leading and mentoring a team of specialists.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated understanding and experience in the area of program development and evaluation along with the application of performance indicators and evidence based best practice. You will have excellent leadership skills to mentor a team of specialists as well as the ability to drive change and facilitate the implementation of an array of clinical programs. You will be experienced in all phases of project management from concept to completion with an ability to manage and monitor program budges. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and consultation skills will see you succeed in this role.

Manager, Australian Mesothelioma Register

  • Three year full-time contract position
  • New opportunity to establish and manage a register and relationships with internal and external stakeholders

The Cancer Institute NSW is Australia's first state-wide, government supported Cancer control agency, saving lives through promoting the best cancer research, prevention, early detection, treatment and education initiatives.  A consortium led by the Cancer Institute NSW was successful in their submission to Safe Work Australia for the management of the Australian Mesothelioma Register (AMR).  This includes the collection of all new national cases, the collection of information on occupational and environmental exposure to asbestos of diagnosed patients and the production of reports.

Reporting to the Manager, Central Cancer Registry you will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a system for timely notification of new cases of mesothelioma in collaboration with State and Territory cancer registries.  You will also be responsible for establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and managing the contract with Safe Work Australia.

To be successful in this role you must have appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience, and knowledge of current database management technologies and the capacity to use data extraction tools such as SQL, SAS or similar.  Candidates must also have demonstrated experience in project management, budget development, stakeholder consultation and monitoring and evaluation.

Data Manager, Australian Mesothelioma Register

Reporting to the Manager, AMR you will responsible for development of the register database, coordination of the transfer and integration of historical data, and the establishment and maintenance of appropriate quality practices and operating protocols.  You will also be responsible for reporting and other related activities ensuring compliance with relevant standards, practices and statutory requirements.

To be successful in this role you must have appropriate tertiary qualifications in health information management and demonstrated experience in the development, maintenance and validation of an extensive dataset in public health.  You must also have good oral and written communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and demonstrated experience with databases, word processing, spreadsheets, statistical analysis and query language software.

Operations Manager, Centre for Health Record Linkage (CHeReL)

  • Full-time permanent position
  • Opportunity to make a significant contribution to the operational management of the centre

The Centre for Health Record Linkage (CHeReL) is jointly managed by the Cancer Institute NSW and NSW Health. It is hosted by the Cancer Institute NSW, the NSW Government’s lead cancer agency. The CHeReL has been established to provide record linkage services in NSW and the ACT and provides key infrastructure to support health research, and the planning and evaluation of health services. 

In this role you will be required to oversee the day to day operations of the CHeReL including acting as Manager where necessary; managing the provision of record linkage services to clients; providing technical supervision for staff; providing advice to staff, data custodians, researchers and other stakeholders on the technical, legal, privacy and ethical issues in record linkage.  You will also be required to represent the CHeReL on external committees and communicate and promote the work of the CHeReL.

To be successful in this role you will have appropriate tertiary qualifications in a health related discipline, experience in a research, clinical or population health environment and experience using SAS to manipulate large administrative datasets for health research or evaluation.   You will also have an understanding of data linkage and the capacity to use data extraction tools and well developed interpersonal skills in communication, negotiation and consultation.

Assistant Accountant

As Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for the coordination of payroll, accounting and financial reporting services. You will prepare a range of statutory based financial reports to support the delivery of financial management & accounting services and manage the disbursement of funds to research grant recipients. In addition you will coordinate the collection of workforce profile data, process invoices, and ensure compliance of policy with regards to reimbursements of expenses.

The successful candidate will have experience in payroll management gained in a complex, multi industrial award environment. You will have a thorough understanding of public sector accounting practices and have prior experience in coordinating a range of accounting and financial services. You will possess excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to manage effective stakeholder relationships. Appropriate tertiary qualifications would be advantageous.

Join the Monitoring Evaluation and Research Unit at the Cancer Institute NSW.

The Monitoring Evaluation and Research Unit is responsible for a range of activities to meet the Institutes reporting requirements. This includes regular reporting for Divisions and Units, analytical support for reporting and special projects, and collaboration and advice on the design and development of methods to evaluate programs and projects. The Unit also operates a statistical and epidemiological consultancy service and is integral to building research capacity within the Institute.

Other key functions include the design, development and refinement of information systems to support the Institute’s monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.

The Manager, Data & Reporting is responsible for overseeing the provision of information in response to data requests received by the Cancer Information & Registries division and the Cervical Screening Program.  The role is responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of a web based analysis and reporting tool, the establishment and management of a data access process, and the provision of expert advice for the interpretation of data.  The role is also responsible for day to day management of an Analyst Data and Reporting Systems.

Project Officer NSW Cervical Screening Program

As the Project Officer NSW Cervical Screening Program (CSP), you will implement projects with the aim of increasing cervical screening participation rates, especially in hard to reach groups. You will be responsible for project planning, scoping, stakeholder consultation, resourcing, key milestone reporting, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and related activities, and ensuring completion of projects within agreed timeframes, quality standards and budgeted costs.  You will also provide timely accurate research and data analysis to support existing and new initiatives of the Program.

With a sound understanding of the health system in NSW and the Commonwealth, the successful candidate will have appropriate tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience and training. Coordinator Clinical Consultation, New South Wales Oncology Groups (NSWOG)  

As Coordinator Clinical Consultation you will coordinate the dissemination of information to clinical experts as part of NSW Oncology Groups, develop clinical panels and establish web-based communication methodologies for electronic clinical consultation. You will organise workshops, maintain an online information repository and coordinate the delivery and technical administration of web-based seminars.  This role involves building a clinical stakeholder base through engagement and collaboration with professional bodies.

 The successful candidate will have experience in organising workshops, including the preparation, evaluation and distribution of documentation.  You will have excellent communication skills with an ability to engage diverse stakeholders.  You will have advanced skills in office computing applications including presentation and webpage software.
