Clinical Training Fellowships
The cancer Institute NSW has supported the development of highly qualified cancer specialists through its Clinical Training Fellowship program. This program provided support for newly qualified oncology specialist, and early career (post masters) allied health and nursing professionals to enhance and add depth to their clinical practice, expertise and understanding and implementation of evidence based practice.

NSW Registrar Advanced Trainee Program
The one year Cancer Institute NSW Clinical Registrar Program provided an opportunity for advanced trainees in an oncology related discipline to undertake training with a particular emphasis on surgical oncology and pathology in the metropolitan Area Health Services and to participate in oncology related disciplines as part of a rural/metropolitan partnership in Area Health Services in NSW.

Clinical Study Grants
The program provided a grant to enable medical, psycho-oncology, radiotherapy, allied health and nursing staff to travel abroad for up to three months in to visit centres of excellence in their field of practice with clinicians demonstrating best practice.

Conference Grants
Cancer Institute NSW Conference Grants were established to enable medical registrars in training, cancer nurses, clinical trials nurses, data managers, cancer nurse coordinators, social workers, psychologists, radiation therapists, medical physicists, Cancer Institute NSW Clinical Fellows and other health professionals working in the area of cancer services to attend national or international conferences and seminars related to cancer management and supportive care.

Research Program Grants for 2009–2010
Patient Management System Support (Cancer Genetics)
To ensure the sustainability of cancer genetics services, the Cancer Institute NSW has implemented a strategic program of competitive grant support for the purchase of a PMS in the existing cancer genetics services. This will allow Cancer Genetics Services to manage their patients effectively and collect data that will, in future, lend itself to be linked across Area Health Services.
