GMCT Gynaecological Oncology Committee

GMCT Gynaecological Oncology committee is a joint committee between the Cancer Institute NSW and the Greater Metropolitan Clinical Taskforce (GMCT). The Network was established in 2002 with the aim to promote high quality gynaecological cancer care for women and to improve access to comprehensive gynaecological cancer services across NSW. The GMCT Gynaecological Oncology Committee has been operating jointly as a NSW Oncology Group since 2006.

The Group is co-chaired by Dr Russell Hogg, Staff Specialist in Gynae-Oncology at Westmead Hospital and Ms Kim Hobbs, Senior Social Worker, Department of Gynaecological Oncology at Westmead Hospital.

Key activities of GMCT Gynaecological Oncology Committee:

  • Gynaecological Cancer Clinical Forum – Meeting the Needs of Women with Ovarian Cancer – 17 October 2008

The GMCT Gynaecological Oncology (GO) Network and the Cancer Institute NSW held a joint one day forum to discuss and demonstrate the ideal multidisciplinary care GO patients should receive. A learning DVD of the day was produced and has been broadcast b y the Rural Health Education Foundation using digital satellite technology. The day also featured the launch of the Clinical Best Practice Gynaecological Cancer Palliative Care 2008 document (see below).

  • Best Clinical Practice Gynaecological Cancer Palliative Care 2008 resource

Launched by the Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer) this resource was developed by a subcommittee of the GMCT GO, to assist clinicians to manage patients if expert advice is not readily available, particularly in a rural setting or for non-gynaecological oncology clinicians.

  • Gynaecological Oncology Extension Dataset

This dataset extension complements the core dataset with additional measures and indicators and also outlines FIGO (International Federation of Gynaecology and Ostetrics) Extension Dataset.
