NSWOG Lung

Developing, promulgating and assessing treatment algorithms for the management of lung cancer in NSW

The aim of this project is to develop, circulate and assess the use of algorithms describing the management of lung cancer.

NSWOG Head & Neck

Development of Evidence Based Practice Guidelines for the Nutritional Management of Patients with Head and Neck Cancer.

Evidence-based nutritional guidelines are being produced for the optimum nutrition management of head and neck cancer patients in Australia.

NSWOG Neuro-Oncology

Brian Tumour Nursing Education project

An education module for nurses working with brain tumour patients is being developed.

NSWOG Cancer Genetics

Cancer Genetics statewide services plan

The aim of this project is to provide options for an evidence-based structure for
Statewide cancer genetics services (clinical and laboratory) that will meet current and future demand, be accessible to all potential clients across the state, and be timely and cost-effective. This project is due for completion by early 2010.

NSWOG Upper GI

Liver Cancer Project

This project aims to document standard care pathways and variations in practice in the treatment of primary liver cancer in NSW. This will be done through an international literature review and a comprehensive survey of centre treating liver cancer in NSW.

NSWOG Urology

Operational Plan for NSWOG Urology

Following recommendations from the operational plan for urology, the following projects are underway:

  • Development of new roles and systems to ensure specialists time is spent on treating new patients, rather than follow-up of existing patients (which may be undertaken by other professionals).
  • Endorsement of a standardised psychosocial tool suitable for issues relating to urological cancers.
  • Development of standardised multidisciplinary team (MDT) referral criteria
