Multi-Centre Research

From the 1st July 2007, the system for ethical review of research proposals has changed. NSW Health has implemented a system of single ethical and scientific review of research, with a separation of ethics and research governance.

A multi-centre research proposal being conducted within NSW Public Hospitals will only need to obtain ethical approval from one accredited lead HREC. However, each site involved in the research will need to provide approval that the research can be conducted at that site. This is known as Site Specific Assessment.
