Clinical Trials Program

The NSW Cancer Plan 2007-2010 focuses on programs to strengthen cancer research. This includes the Clinical Trials Program, which has been established to develop high quality cancer clinical trials in NSW, introduce and study new cancer treatments, increase participation rates in cancer trials and promote a culture of research and innovation in cancer services.

The Cancer Institute NSW does not conduct clinical trials directly, but through key programs is supporting the resources, infrastructure and staffing required to conduct clinical research at research institutions across NSW.

The aim of the Clinical Trials Program under the NSW Cancer Plan is to accelerate the uptake of promising new clinical approaches by providing evidence of efficacy and improving cancer outcomes through research. The key outcomes of the program are to increase the quality of cancer clinical trials being conducted in NSW as well as increasing the number of patients routinely being offered clinical trial participation in a greater variety of clinical settings. These aims are being achieved through the implementation of various partnerships, grants, collaborations and infrastructure, which are brought together under the NSW Cancer Trials Network.

A list of cancer clinical trials currently seeking participants can be found here.
