Grants

Competitive grant programs, previously run through the Research and Cancer Services and Education Divisions, have been consolidated to standardise all practices, policies and procedures and are now being run through the Cancer Institute NSW Grants Secretariat.

Applications are sought from all NSW based universities, cancer services, hospitals, Area Health Services and other relevant agencies.

Applicants are requested to carefully consider the objectives, eligibility and selection criteria detailed in the Guidelines for each grant type to ensure they are applying for the most appropriate funding. If an applicant is unsure or would like to clarify any points please contact the grants secretariat.

Funding is competitive and calls for applications are made through media advertising, on this website under Grants and through direct mailing via the Cancer Institute NSW Contacts Database. The guidelines outlining the specific details and eligibility criteria of the grants are also posted here. The Guidelines and Application Forms from previous rounds can be found at Previous Grant Opportunities.

Grant applications are reviewed by the relevant Grant Review Committee, in accordance with the Cancer Institute NSW Peer Review Policy. These committees act independently and are made up of interstate experts. The Committees may also call on additional interstate and international experts to provide further in-depth peer review. These Committees are responsible for the allocation of competitive grant funds with recommendations being notified to the Cancer Institute NSW Board.
