eviQ chemotherapy protocols in NSW will soon be linked to individual patients to produce groundbreaking data capturing clinical variation.

While eviQ is being used in all Australian states, territories and 981 cities worldwide, there is currently no way of easily tracking all the treatments a patient has received throughout their pathway, or correlating how these treatments directly relate to their outcomes.

Work is now underway with vendors of the oncology management information systems (OMISs) that currently manage chemotherapy data across NSW oncology clinics, to lay the foundation for standardised reporting.

eviQ are reformatting all chemotherapy treatment protocols for automatic exporting directly into the OMISs, with codes applied to capture how each protocol is used.

Individual health professionals will no longer have to source protocols from eviQ and manually enter relevant data into their systems.

Monthly reports from the OMISs will also highlight opportunities to validate the drug dosing and scheduling of chemotherapy protocols, thus complementing the clinical trial data, to provide a realistic view of the use and effectiveness of these treatments within the general population.

Work is also underway to investigate the feasibility of data collection from the private sector, and those sites currently with no OMIS.

The additional collection of chemotherapy treatment information will enhance the already comprehensive registry database in a way that is not available elsewhere in Australia.
