NSW Pap Test Register

The NSW Pap Test Register is a secure and confidential database of women's Pap test and related follow-up test results. The Register was established by the Public Health Act 1991 and commenced operation in July 1996.

The Register provides a follow-up and reminder service to women to encourage them to have regular Pap tests every two years or as recommended by their doctor or nurse.

The Register operates a free Information Line (1800 671 693) that can be used to find out when a woman's last Pap test was, or to update a woman's name and address. Health practitioners can also use this telephone number to find out their patients' last Pap test or cervical biopsy result.

The Register is a key part of the NSW Cervical Screening Program, which aims to reduce the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer by promoting regular screening.
