Cancer nurses comprise a significant proportion of the skilled cancer professionals who contribute to the care of cancer patients during all stages, providing services in different facilities including public and private hospitals, community and outreach services and speciality settings.

Given the significant contribution of cancer nurses to the care of cancer patients throughout the cancer journey it is important to understand this key group of professionals.

This report presents the results from a state-wide study examining cancer nursing in NSW. It aims to provide a comprehensive description of cancer nursing, to identify key factors and initiatives that influence recruitment and retention of cancer nurses and to distinguish any factors that are important or unique to cancer nursing.
