Kidney cancer refers to cancer of the kidney, which in this report includes kidney, renal pelvis, ureter and urinary tract carcinomas. Kidney cancer is not a large volume cancer in NSW, accounting for only 2.9% of cancers in males and 2.2% in females. However there has been a gradual increase in the number of new cases in males in NSW, whereas incidence in females has stabilised. This increase in incidence is seen predominantly in adenocarcinomas. Over the past decade, mortality has remained stable in males and has fallen by 29% in females.
