The implementation of a Network Portfolio for the NSW Cancer Trials Network in 2011 will see the resources provided through the Network funding program directed towards the enrolment of participants to well designed, high priority, industry-independent research studies.

These studies contribute new knowledge, which will influence clinical practice and address the needs of NSW cancer patients.

The Portfolio will be developed through the endorsement of studies, which meet the following set of key principles:

  • The study is prospective.
  • The study has been peer reviewed.
  • The study has scientific and ethical approval.
  • The study data are owned by the industry-independent sponsor.
  • The industry-independent sponsor intends to publish the results of the study.
  • The study will contribute new knowledge which will influence clinical practice.
  • The study is listed on a recognised clinical trials register prior to the enrolment of participants, where applicable.

A process for studies which meet all criteria with the exception of peer review is currently being established to provide an opportunity for these to be included in the portfolio.

Studies which are not currently in the Portfolio can be submitted for inclusion, by completing this form [link to study notification form].
