Key activities of NSWOG Cancer Genetics

Review of Cancer Genetic Services in NSW

This review was conducted in 2006, with the aim to support Program 18.2 of the NSW Cancer Plan (2004-2006) by providing information and baseline data about Cancer Genetics Services that people at risk of familial cancer are able to access in NSW. The review provides information to the Cancer Institute NSW that will help it identify key trends, prioritise needs, and inform the basis of future service development in NSW.

Cancer Genetics statewide services plan

The aim of this project is to provide options for an evidence-based structure for Statewide cancer genetics services (clinical and laboratory) that will meet current and future demand, be accessible to all potential clients across the state, and be timely and cost-effective.

The first stage of the project was a comprehensive report clearly describing the current model for cancer genetics service delivery in New South Wales.

The second stage involves the development of an ideal model for cancer genetics services in New South Wales.
