Key activities and projects

Lung Cancer Clinical Forum

Held in November 2007, the Lung Cancer Clinical Forum, an initiative of NSW Oncology Group (NSWOG) Lung, was designed to identify opportunities to improve the provision of healthcare delivery to patients with lung cancer.

Treatment algorithms for the management of lung cancer

NSWOG Lung identified the need for the development of treatment algorithms for the management of lung cancer in NSW. This need was based on evidence that lung cancer patients were often not offered treatment due to the belief that there were limited options available.

The Cancer Epidemiology research unit of the Cancer Council NSW was commissioned to develop treatment algorithms for both non-small-cell and small-cell lung cancers. Modified versions were developed for patients and general practitioners.

NSWOG Lung Cancer Draft Minimum Data Set Extension

NSWOG Lung has identified succinct dataset extensions as statewide standards to complement the core dataset with additional measures and indicators specific to tumour streams.
