We support the development of networks to enhance the delivery of cancer services in NSW.

As a government agency, we collaborate with key national and statewide organisations to ensure appropriate connections are successfully established across all clinical areas, as well as rural and remote communities.

We are particularly focused on strengthening the clinical service networks between rural and metropolitan services so all cancer patients in NSW have access to multidisciplinary  teams.

Network programs

We currently have three core network programs underway:

  • Adolescent and young adult: enhancing provision of care for adolescents and young adults with cancer through  clinical expertise and multidisciplinary coordinated care.
  • Gynaeoncological cancers: supporting a skilled gynaeoncological cancer workforce with targeted tools, resources and education.
  • NSW Cancer Service Networks National Program 2 (CanNET 2): building on the outcomes of the original CanNET with focus on three core network-building elements:
    • primary care referral guides
    • web-based meeting technologies
    • Online Cancer Services Directory.

Through the CanNET 2 program, we are also focussing on improving the quality of cancer services for people with cancer from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
