We help cancer services improve delivery of cancer treatment and care by evaluating and comparing the way systems are performing across the State.

Measuring performance provides information on gaps and variations within cancer networks.

We measure key data that shows the efficiency and effectiveness of individual cancer services, so we can understand the gaps and variations among and within cancer networks.

We also support critical examination of existing service models in cancer, and look at ways to innovate and redesign so patient care can be delivered in the most effective way.

To date, we have completed projects analysing and improving the business systems and operations in radiotherapy, ambulatory chemotherapy and histopathology.

To make sure patient care can be delivered in the most effective way, we've also funded projects through Health Service Innovation Grants that examine existing service models in cancer and look at innovative ways to redesign them. This has lead to the development of two projects focussing on improving the quality of care for cancer patients from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.

These programs are designed to improve the survival of people with cancer through reducing variations in cancer outcomes across NSW.
