Outstanding Cancer Researcher of the Year

The Award for Outstanding Cancer Researcher of the Year will honour an individual who has made significant and fundamental contributions to any field of cancer research in NSW. The recipient will receive a prize of $50,000 (excluding GST) to further the recipient's research endeavours, and a commemorative award.

The Professor Rob Sutherland AO Make a Difference Award

Professor Rob Sutherland AO was an internationally recognised cancer researcher whose pioneering work changed cancer treatment and improved the survival chances of patients around the world. The recipient of the Professor Rob Sutherland AO Make a Difference Award 2015 will receive a prize of $20,000 (excluding GST) and a commemorative award. The $20,000 prize must be used to further the researcher’s endeavours.

Big Data, Big Impact Grant — Stage 2

The Big Data, Big Impact grant presents a unique opportunity to bring together an outstanding research team to identify the potential within open access datasets. New and creative ideas are sought for research studies that facilitate new approaches to unlocking big data. Successful winners of Stage 1 will be considered for stage 2 funding.

Excellence in Translational Cancer Research Award

The Award for Excellence in Translational Cancer Research 2015 will recognise an example of excellence in translational research and honour the team who conducted the work in any field of cancer research in NSW. The research team will receive a prize of $20,000 (excluding GST) to further the team's research endeavours, and a commemorative award.

'The Wildfire' Highly Cited Publication Award

The Wildfire Award 2015 will recognise a NSW researcher, or team of researchers, who has made a significant difference to cancer research, care or practice. The recipient(s) will receive a prize of $20,000 (excluding GST) to further the winner or winners' research endeavours, and a commemorative award.

Innovation in Cancer Clinical Trials Award

The Clinical Trials Program supports investment in infrastructure, systems and strategic initiatives to drive the efficient and effective conduct, increased accessibility and accrual of patients into a portfolio of high quality public interest cancer clinical trials in NSW. The NSW based clinical research team; clinical trials group or clinical trial unit within a university or not-for-profit organisation or within a local health district will be selected based on performance and receive a prize of $20,000 (excluding GST) to further their achievements in this area, and a commemorative award.

Outstanding Cancer Research Fellow

No guidelines or nominations are required for this award. The progress reports submitted by Cancer Institute NSW fellows will be used to determine this award.

'The Rising Star' PhD Student Award

The 'Rising Star’ PhD Student Award will honour an exceptional PhD student who is making significant progress and shows the potential to make an impact in any field of cancer research. The recipient will receive a prize of $10,000 (excluding GST) to be used to further the recipient's research endeavours, and a commemorative award.
