Sue's lung cancer story
"I'd had the flu but I had lost about 10 kilos in a reasonably short period of time... I knew that my body wasn't quite right."
This is the story of Sue, a lung cancer patient from NSW.
Sue has never been a smoker, which is why she says her lung cancer diagnosis came as a shock. Lung cancer can affect anyone at any age, regardless of whether they have smoked or not.
Sue's story shows the importance of watching your body for signs and symptoms, and finding the disease early. It also highlights how a multidisciplinary team can help your treatment.
"It's important for people to take control of the illness and also to reach out and ask for help. In addition to having the support that was available through the hospital, I was lucky enough to get support through the community as well, which was fantastic."
