Priority settings are key places that present opportunities to impact people’s knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about exposure to UV, and provide a greater opportunity to influence sun protection behaviours.
Community
Built environments, public places and transport waiting places and corridors.
Sport
Organisations and places where sport is played.
Education
Early childhood centres, primary and secondary schools, TAFE, universities and colleges.
Workplaces
Especially industries and workplaces where people work outdoors.
Recreation
Recreational organisations and places such as parks, beaches and event destinations.
Healthcare
Primary care services and health professionals.
We know that all people in NSW are at risk of UV overexposure, prompting a broad population-level approach in this Strategy. However, priority populations have been identified as needing tailored and targeted skin cancer interventions due to their particular risks.
The following key groups will be prioritised through to 2030:
Over the term of this Strategy, we will investigate and consult to determine appropriate activities to reduce the incidence of skin cancer in NSW. This includes understanding more about:
