The Cancer Institute NSW Aboriginal Cancer Network includes health and community workers, who work with Aboriginal people affected by cancer. It includes Aboriginal community members and consumers.
It brings together people working in the community with those impacted by cancer as a patient, carer or support person.
The Annual Aboriginal Cancer Network Forum is a platform to bring together members of the network to present relevant projects and initiatives from across NSW; to share information; and identify priorities to reduce the burden of cancer on the Aboriginal community.
The forum aims to:
- facilitate mutual learning and information sharing
- provide information, support and professional development for members of the Aboriginal Cancer Network
- showcase effective models of care and projects aimed at reducing the burden of cancer in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- build the skills, knowledge and capacity of the Aboriginal health workforce and other health professionals working in the Aboriginal cancer space
- build partnerships between mainstream services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
- provide updates on clinical and other relevant Aboriginal cancer issues.
