Project Title: Cardiovascular disease mortality risk among cancer survivors in New South Wales

Lead researcher: Professor Karen Canfell

Organisation: The Daffodil Centre, University of Sydney

The Project:

Cancer and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are the leading causes of death in Australia. While there have been substantial improvements in cancer survival over the past few decades, there are concerns about increased morbidity and mortality due to treatment side effects. While the increased incidence of CVD mortality in cancer patients compared to the general population is well documented, the overlap between CVD and cancer survivorship is complex and not as well understood.  So far, no study has examined the risk of CVD mortality among cancer survivors in New South Wales (NSW).

This study aims to examine the CVD mortality risk in cancer survivors in NSW and to identify sub-groups of survivors who are at the greatest risk of CVD mortality
