Socioeconomic differences in rates of mortality and survival in men with prostate cancer
Project Title: Socioeconomic differences in rates of mortality and survival in men with prostate cancer
Lead researcher: Professor Karen Canfell
Organisation: The Daffodil Centre, University of Sydney
The Project:
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and a leading cause of cancer related mortality. In Australia, it is unclear which factors explain the association between socioeconomic status and rates of mortality and survival.
This study aims to investigate if there are socioeconomic differences in the rates of mortality and survival in men diagnosed with prostate cancer, and if a relationship does exist, to then report the factors which may explain these differences. The findings from this study will provide a more detailed understanding of the epidemiology of prostate cancer in Australian men, which could help inform further research and policy.
