What is the Cancer Institute Tobacco Tracking Survey?

The CITTS is an important health study undertaken by the Cancer Institute NSW to monitor and evaluate our tobacco control campaigns.

The survey enables us to speak to a wide range of people in NSW and ACT to find out if our campaigns impact their smoking knowledge, attitudes and behaviours.

The CITTS has been reviewed and approved by the NSW Population and Health Services Research Ethics Committee (Reference: HREC/10/CIPHS/13).

Why have I been contacted to participate in the survey?

To monitor and evaluate tobacco control campaigns, we need to speak to a wide range of people to understand how these campaigns impact their knowledge, attitudes and behaviours.

You have been contacted to participate in this important government health study as a person living in the NSW or the ACT.

How will this information be used?

The information collected in this study will be used by the Cancer Institute NSW to develop initiatives that aim to contribute to reducing the prevalence, and negative impact of smoking among people in NSW and the ACT.

How did we get your telephone number/I have a silent number?

Your phone number was randomly generated by computer. We find this is the best way to obtain a representative sample to make sure we get opinions from a wide range of people.

As your number has been randomly generated, we do not know if a mobile number is within NSW or the ACT. One way we check before calling is to send an SMS.

You may receive a text message from 0447 782 684 or 0481 074 131, or a phone call from 02 9060 8475 regarding the study.
