Cancer data and statistics — primary care

Primary health care utilise data and statistics to inform all levels of system planning and quality improvement activities.

This includes understanding the needs of patients and providers across the spectrum of cancer control including cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

Furthermore, data and statistics are important towards addressing health inequity and service gaps that may impact the experiences of people affected by cancer, health care providers and clinicians.

Cancer Institute NSW collects and manages a significant amount of data about cancer incidence and mortality, outcomes, screening trends, risk factors and clinical trial participation.
